Junior Specialist

Andrea graduated from UC Santa Barabara with a B.S. in Biology. During her undergrad Andrea worked in Dr. Eliason’s lab at UCSB studying fish physiology and the thermal tolerance of steelhead trout. After graduation, Andrea gathered steelhead fin clip samples with Oregon Fish and Wildlife, then worked in wetland habitat restoration. She is most interested in studying how environmental stressors affect fish physiology and how molecular tools like gene expression can be used to evaluate the effects of these stressors. In the Segarra Lab, Andrea continued her fish physiology research and is learning toxicology skills. In her free time she likes to climb, crochet and play board games.

Andrea is now a Master’s student at the University of Manitoba under Dr. Ken Jeffries.
